“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
I was drawn to writing because of my love of words, and the challenge of composing them in a way that is captivating and effective. My first book contract was for Kids on the Move! Colorado, a guidebook for parents traveling through the state with kids. As the parents of young twin boys, my husband and I were experts on the subject, and as a family we set out on in-depth road-trip research. After publication I forged a new path into the world of writing nonfiction for the education market. Now I am the author of over twenty books on subjects ranging from toilets to pirates to politicians, and am working to publish my first middle grade novel and picture book.
I was raised in Virginia, but moved to Colorado in my twenties to find my home. Nothing beats a hike to a high mountain lake in the summer, meadows of wildflowers, and the endless blue Colorado sky. Aside from hiking and running shoes, my favorite footwear is a pair of flip flops.
